Regional Schools Successful at Improving College Readiness through Early Assessment
With funds from the statewide Early Assessment Program, the EAP program at California State University, Chico has helped local and regional schools lower remediation rates of incoming freshmen in math and English. Nine Schools in CSU, Chico’s service area, which stretches from Yuba County to the Oregon border, are being recognized for their students’ improved achievement on the 2008 STAR test (the standard California achievement test administered to all juniors). Marketing and Design Students Produce Campaign to Encourage Healthy Drinking Behavior

CSU, Chico Model UN Delegation Wins Top Awards at National Conference
For the first time since the 1990s, students participating in the Model United Nations (MUN) course at California State University, Chico won the two top awards at the national Model United Nations Conference held in New York April 5–9. The Chico delegation, representing the Republic of Korea, was named an Outstanding Delegation from a field of more than 160 colleges and universities. Full Story

Phi Kappa Phi Initiation and Medallion Ceremony

Attention High School Photographers: Plant Photo Contest
High school students from Chico and surrounding areas are invited to submit landscape and close-up photos of plants for a photo contest with a prize of $100 for first place. The deadline for submissions is May 13. The photos will be on display and judged at an open house to be held in the afternoon on May 15 (time to be announced) in the Chico State Herbarium, Holt Hall 129. Full Story
