Biological Sciences Professor Selected as the 2007–2008 Outstanding Professor
Professor Gordon Wolfe, Department of Biological Sciences, has been selected by the Faculty Recognition and Support Committee for the 2007-2008 Outstanding Professor Award at California State University, Chico. Wolfe earned a BA in physics at Harvard University and received a PhD in biogeochemistry from University of Washington. He joined the CSU, Chico faculty in 2000. Full Story

Recreation and Parks Management Professor Receives Outstanding Advisor Award
Roger Guthrie, professor of Recreation and Parks Management at California State University, Chico, received the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award for 2007–2008. Antoinette Martinez Selected as Outstanding Teacher

Chico State Students Work to Rebuild New Orleans
During the third week in January, 115 students, faculty and staff from California State University, Chico traveled to the New Orleans area to spend five days rebuilding houses devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This was the third trip to New Orleans for the “Rebuild New Orleans” project, and the trip with the largest number of volunteers. Full Story

Chico Unified School District and CSU, Chico Collaborate on Math and Science
Eleven new California Math Science Partnerships (MSPs) have been funded in the state, and Chico Unified School District (CUSD) has received two of them, one in science and one in mathematics. Both of these are collaborative ventures with California State University, Chico faculty, and both will support the efforts to establish professional learning communities within the school district. The grants extend for a three-year period and will involve more than 85 teachers. Full Story

Chico State Alumni Association Holding Receptions for Homecoming
The Chico Chapter of the Alumni Association, California State University, Chico, will hold three receptions during the men’s and women’s basketball games on Friday, Feb. 1, in Shurmer Gym. The first reception will be held during halftime of the women’s game, the second will be held between the men’s and women’s games, and the third will be held during halftime of the men’s game.
