Campus and Mansion Arboretum Tours Offered in February, March, April

California State University, Chico and Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park are jointly offering four tours of their extensive collection of native and exotic trees and shrubs this spring on Feb. 26, March 4, March 25 and April l. The easy and informative walks will begin at the gazebo in front of Bidwell Mansion Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m. Full Story

The Geographical Information Center (GIC) at California State University, Chico has received approximately $200,000 to assist the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Delta Risk Management Strategy in providing more precise mapping information related to Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta levee projects. Iron Canyon Fish Ladder Project Receives Funding

The Research Foundation at California State University, Chico has received $220,000 funding from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for Phase II of a project to restore the Iron Canyon Fish Ladder. The ladder, located on Big Chico Creek above Salmon Hole, is in disrepair and has been for years. It is a critical component in moving salmon from the heavily used swimming holes of Upper Bidwell Park to the protected holes upstream of the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve and other private land holdings. CSU, Chico Hosts Organic Dairy Conference

California State University, Chico, College of Agriculture announces plans to host the 2008 Organic Dairy Conference at the University’s Agriculture Teaching and Research Center on March 25-26, 2008. The two-day event will feature nationally recognized speakers on holistic herd health with an emphasis on milk quality and organic methods to maximize pasture productivity and minimize grain inputs. Speakers include Dr. Paul Dettloff, holistic dairy practitioner, LaFarge, WI; Dr. Tina Johnson, certified veterinary acupuncturist, Newburg Veterinary Hospital, Newburg, OR; Gary Zimmer, agronomist and president and founder of Mid-Western Bio-Ag Services; and Jerry Brunetti, animal nutritionist and founder of Agri-Dynamics, Inc.
