Eight regional champion teams from high schools across California will travel to Los Angeles on April 28 to compete in a contest based on entrepreneurship and community service. Teams from Santa Monica High School, Santa Barbara High School, Golden West High School in Visalia, Highlands High School near Sacramento, Oakland Tech, Castlemont High School in Oakland, Benicia High School and South Pasadena High School will be competing. Construction Management faculty from California State University, Chico recently returned from the 43rd Annual Associated Schools of Construction's (ASC) International Conference held April 11-14 at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Ariz., where they presented work in building information modeling (BIM). The College of Humanities and Fine Arts, California State University, Chico, is offering a trip to the Galapagos Islands and Quito, Ecuador, from Jan. 4 through 14, 2008. The faculty-in-residence is Andrew Flescher, professor of religious studies. Flescher has traveled extensively in Brazil and spent a summer studying wildlife in the Amazon River Basin. Full Story

Danielle Casal, a graduating senior at California State University, Chico, has received the Glenn Kendall Public Service Award. Each year, this $600 award, sponsored by President Emeritus Glenn Kendall, recognizes one outstanding graduating senior who has shown exemplary scholarship and public service to the University and the community. Professor Jeff Price, Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, California State University, Chico is one of the lead authors on the Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change report, which was released beginning on Feb. 2.
