NSF Grant Funds Master Plan for Eagle Lake Field Station
Gordon Wolfe and Michael Marchetti, Department of Biological Sciences at California State University, Chico, received a National Science Foundation Grant to develop a master plan for the Eagle Lake Biological Field station (ELFS), located in remote Lassen County on the second largest freshwater lake in California, and one of the most pristine. Special Education Scholarships Announced
The Special Education Teacher Preparation Program at California State University, Chico, announces its 2006 scholarship award period. Based on a review of the performance of the program and its students, the United States Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services renewed three grants and approved one new project, making over $500,000 available this year for student support. New Major in Concrete Industry Management Proposed
A new major in Concrete Industry Management (CIM) is being proposed by the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management (ECC). It is the result of a partnership between the concrete industry and California State University, Chico, which will offer students a unique blend of technical and management preparation in a new discipline and will help to meet this industry's employment demands. Professor of Therapeutic Recreation Invited to International Paralympics
Laura McLachlin, a professor of therapeutic recreation in the Department of Recreation and Parks Management, California State University, Chico, has been invited to the International Paralympics in Torino, Italy. Professor Receives Bush Appointment to Nuclear Waste Review Board
California State University, Chico professor William Murphy has been appointed by President Bush to serve on the Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board (NWTRB), an independent agency of the U.S. government that oversees the Department of Energy's management and disposal of high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel.
