Caltrans has selected California State University, Chico for the site of the California Center for Pavement Preservation. The California center, funded by Caltrans with $1.8 million, will work closely with the Pavement Preservation Task Group (PPTG). PPTG is a volunteer group consisting of members from Caltrans, the pavement industry, local agencies and academia to help promote pavement preservation within the state. Full Story

A California State University, Chico civil engineering student has won $1,000 and been named a finalist in a national writing competition held by Chicago-based Quixote Corporation, a leading manufacturer of transportation safety products. Full Story

California State University, Chico's Center for Psychological Counseling, Wellness and Testing received word this month it had been re-accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc., (IACS), a Virginia-based organization of United States, Canadian and Australian counseling agencies. The Northern California Natural History Museum at California State University, Chico announces its Fall Museum Without Walls Lecture Series. The series begins on Oct. 4 and continues every Wednesday evening through Nov.1. This season's theme is "Health and the Environment." Full Story

Former dean of the College of Agriculture, Charles Crabb, will be inducted into the College of Agriculture's Hall of Honor at the 16th Annual Fall Festival to be held on Saturday, Sept. 30. Full Story

The sixth annual Chico Alumni Chapter Mixer will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Warrens Reception Center. It kicks off the three-day Alumni and Parents Weekend, Sept. 29-Oct. 1, at California State University, Chico. The weekend will offer reunions, a Golden Grad dinner for the class of 1956, a barbecue for alumni, parents and students, and the opening of the time capsules from 1936, 1946, and 1956. Full Story

Witold Rybczynski, architect and prolific writer on architecture, urban design and city life, will visit Chico from Sept. 26 through Sept. 29 as a President's Visiting Scholar at California State University, Chico. His visit inaugurates the Humanities Center yearlong theme, The Built Environment. Full Story

Sharon Yep, managing editor for California State University, Chico's student newspaper The Orion, has been selected as one of the Scripps Howard Foundation's Top Ten Scholars for 2006. Full Story
