Water Use Conflicts and the Future of North State Water Resources

On April 14 and 15, CSU, Chico's Center for Economic Development, the CSU, Chico Department of Economics, and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences are sponsoring an event that will examine water resource issues from the global, national and state perspectives. The event will be held at Selvester's Café on the CSU, Chico campus from 8 AM to 5 PM both days. Registration is free, morning refreshments will be provided, and lunch will be no host. Full Story

Advocate for Inner-city Youth to Speak in Chico

Father Greg Boyle, internationally known for his efforts to reduce gang violence, will visit California State University, Chico April 19 and 20, during Founders Week. Father Boyle was pastor of Dolores Mission Church from 1986 to 1992. Dolores Mission is the poorest parish in the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese and home to the largest public housing developments west of the Mississippi (Pico Gardens and Aliso Village). These housing projects have the highest concentration of gang activity in the city. Full Story

2005 Fun Without Alcohol Fair Goes Safari

The 2005 Fun Without Alcohol Fair, a daylong event sponsored by Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center (CADEC), will have a safari motif. A giraffe will illustrate the theme "Stand Tall Against Drugs and Alcohol." The 16th annual fair is scheduled to take place Thursday, April 28 on the California State University, Chico campus, from 10 am until 3 pm. Full Story

CSU, Chico SIFE Team Sweeps Regional Competition

The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team from California State University, Chico took a “Journey of HOPE” to Los Angeles last week and came away as victors in the Los Angeles SIFE USA Regional Competition on April 14. They won $3,500 along the way. Full Story

Steel Bridge Team Advances to National Competition
for Ninth Time

The California State University, Chico Steel Bridge Team is advancing to the national competition on May 28-29 this year at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. This will be Chico State’s ninth consecutive invitation to the national competition. The team qualified by their 2nd place finish at the Mid-Pacific Regional Steel Bridge Competition held at California State University, Sacramento on April 9. Full Story
