Human-Powered Vehicle is Winner
at West Coast Competition

California State University, Chico’s Human-Powered Vehicle (HPV) team placed first in the single-rider endurance race and placed third overall in the single-rider category at the 2005 West Coast Human-Powered Vehicle Competition in Fresno, the weekend of April 29.
HPV’s are “aerodynamic, highly engineered vehicles.” Nineteen universities in addition to CSU, Chico entered HPV’s, including the single-rider first- and second-place winners, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, first, and the University of Missouri at Rolla, second. Full Story

Five a Day-Power Play! Campaign Added to Growing List of CSU, Chico Nutrition Programs

Cindy Wolff, professor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at California State University, Chico and director of both the Sierra Cascade Nutrition and Activity Consortium and the OPT for Fit Kids program, has been awarded a $418,750 grant to implement the California children’s 5 a Day–Power Play! Campaign. The campaign will cover the 12-county Sierra Cascade Region over the next three years. Full Story

Paul J. Zingg To Be Inaugurated April 18; 11th President in California State University, Chico’s 118-year History

The inauguration of Paul J. Zingg as the 11th president in California State University, Chico’s 118-year history will feature music, an address by Zingg and ceremonial contributions by many representatives, marking the symbolic start of Zingg’s tenure. The inauguration will take place Monday, April 18, at 10 am in Laxson Auditorium. Chancellor of the California State University Charles Reed, chair of the CSU Board of Trustees Murray Galinson and a number of CSU presidents are among the dignitaries attending the inauguration.
