Linguists Receive National Science Foundation Grant
to Study Disappearing Languages

Two California State University, Chico linguists, Frank Li and Graham Thurgood, have received a two-year, $188,300 grant from the National Science Foundation to document three seriously endangered languages of China. Full Story

Ukrainian Agriculture Professionals to Study Marketing

The Office of International Programs at California State University, Chico, will provide an intensive 10-day study tour, March 8 to March 17, in Northern California for 13 Ukrainian agriculture professionals. The program is designed to educate the participants in the theory and practice of marketing agricultural products in the United States, and to help them generate ideas and processes for improving the marketing system in Ukraine. This program emphasizes mobilizing the private sector to help itself through industry associations, farmer groups and other private sector organizations. Full Story

South African Tour Will Train Teachers in Diversity

The U.S. Department of Education has funded a summer 2004 study tour of South Africa through which 16 educators from Northern California will become trainers in diversity and socioeconomic issues. The $62,900 grant to support the June 21 to July 25 trip is under the auspices of International Studies, the Department of History, and Multicultural and Gender Studies, California State University, Chico.
