Event Highlights Faculty Scholarship
One hundred fifteen California State University, Chico faculty members will be honored for their scholarly achievements next week at a reception in the Associated Students Bookstore in the Bell Memorial Union.
Celebrating Our Faculty: Scholarly and Creative Works 2005-2006 will take place from 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, March 5, on the second floor of the bookstore. All faculty and staff are invited to attend the event, which will include hors d’oeuvres and musical entertainment. CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Scott McNall will give remarks.
A program printed for the event lists titles and descriptions of 158 publications and other scholarly achievements produced by the CSU, Chico faculty over the 2005-2006 academic year. The scholarship includes books, journal articles and non-print works such as electronic media, paintings and photography.
Deans from CSU, Chico’s seven colleges selected the scholarly works by faculty in 2005-06 to be acknowledged in the program and at the event.
Publications range from "Interpreting the Founding: Guide to the Enduring Debates over the Origins and Foundations of the American Republic," a book written by political science Professor Alan Gibson, to "Online Physical Education: Wires and Lights in a Box," an article by kinesiology Professor Craig Buschner in "Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance."
Sponsors of the event are the CSU, Chico’s President’s Office, Meriam Library and the Associated Students Bookstore.
