Prospective Students to Preview Campus on Oct. 28
Chico Preview Day, at California State University, Chico will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 am to 3 pm, beginning in the Bell Memorial Union. The fall open house gives prospective students and their families an opportunity to visit the campus and talk directly with faculty and service program personnel.
All academic programs and service offices will have representatives at an information fair. Academic departments will have faculty available to talk to students about majors and programs. Representatives from student support services, including the Educational Opportunity Program, Student Health Service, Athletics, Student Activities, Advising, and Career Planning and Placement, will be on hand.
Families interested in information about housing will be able to tour a residence hall. Financial aid experts will be available to provide information about financing education and scholarships available.
"Each year several thousand students and their families, from San Diego to the Oregon border, experience firsthand the legendary 'Chico hospitality' that often becomes the critical factor in their final decision to attend our university," said John Swiney, director of admissions. "Faculty and staff from all units on campus join together to make this event successful, and because of that effort, this campus has gained increased popularity and national ranking in recent years."
"The statewide competition for high-achieving students has risen in the last few years. That competition, along with the financial commitment necessary to attend a residential campus like CSU, Chico," said Swiney, "makes Chico Preview Day the most important on-campus recruitment event sponsored by the Office of Admissions."
The day begins with a welcome from CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg at 10 am in Laxson Auditorium. Prospective students and families can then take a tour, visit with department representatives or attend a financial aid workshop
Information on activities for the day or parking instructions can be found online or by calling the Office of Admissions at 530-898-6322 or 1-800-542-4426.
