College of Business Offers First Ethics Panel on April 20

A panel on business ethics, sponsored by the College of Business, California State University, Chico, will feature a human resources director for Target and a partner in KPMG International, as well as several local business CEOs and administrators. The panel is on Thursday, April 20, from 4 to 5:15 pm, in Glenn 212.

There will be a showing and discussion of "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room," the next day, Friday, April 21, in Ayres 120. Both the panel and the movie and discussion are free and open to the public.

Carrie Haas, one of the guests, is director of human resources for Target, Inc. Haas has worked for Target for 6 ½ years, starting as an executive team leader for one of the first Super Targets to open in Colorado. She was promoted to the position of human resources representative for Southern California prior to being promoted to her current position managing 52 stores in three states.

Samuel Fogleman, a partner in KPMG International's Risk Advisory Services (RAS), has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting. KPMG is a Swiss company that provides audit, risk advisory and tax services worldwide. He also serves as the lead engagement partner for Phelps Dodge Corporation, a global leader in the mining and manufacturing industries. Fogleman has experience in external audit, internal audit, product development and risk management. He leads the Internal Audit Services component of RAS, which provides external and internal audit services to clients in a wide variety of industries including mining, manufacturing, government, real estate, retail and technology.

In addition to Haas and Fogleman, panel members include Dan Neumeister, CEO of Enloe Medical Center; Joe Kessing, regional claims manager, Federated Insurance Co.; and Don Carlsen, NFL official and retired Butte County Office of Education assistant superintendent of administrative services.
