Aging and Long-Term Care Conference to Feature John Preston

California State University, Chico Continuing Education, presents Aging and Long-Term Care: Mental Health Perspectives, a one-day conference, Friday, Nov. 18, 8:30 am-4 pm, at Chico Masonic Family Center, in Chico.

The Aging and Long-Term Care Conference will help participants understand normal facets of aging, differential diagnosis of depression and dementia, complicated bereavement, and the psychological and psychopharmacologic treatments for geriatric clients. Participants will gain insight into the evolving legal and ethical issues, as well as the social and spiritual aspects of aging.

Psychologists, counselors, social workers, mental health care providers, medical professionals, and other interested professionals dealing with treatment issues associated with aging and the elderly are encouraged to take advantage of this educational opportunity.

The conference will feature John Preston, ABPP, a professor of psychology with Alliant International University (California School of Professional Psychology), located in Sacramento. Preston has authored 14 books covering various psychological disorders, as well as “Drugs in Psychiatry” a chapter in the Encyclopedia Americana, and has been recognized by the California Psychological Association and the Mental Health Association for his contributions to the mental health community.

This workshop is designed to provide six hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LCSWs, psychologists, and nurses.

The enrollment fee for the one-day conference is $99 (includes continental breakfast, lunch, and customized conference materials). Group-rate discounts are available for groups of four or more from the same organization ($79).
