Zingg Appointed to National Commission on Diversity

California State University, Chico President Paul Zingg has been named to the American Council on Education’s Commission on Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity.

The Washington, D.C.-based American Council on Education (ACE) represents roughly 1,800 accredited colleges and universities. The commission advises ACE and its Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity (CAREE) on ways to increase the number of minority faculty and staff in colleges and universities, and monitors national policies related to campus diversity. The commission includes 43 presidents of institutions of higher education. Zingg’s appointment begins July 1 and continues through June 2008. He received the invitation from ACE president David Ward. The commission and CAREE are leading sources for information, research and professional development related to diversity in higher education. Among the programs they sponsor is the Educating All of One Nation Conference, the nation’s largest conference promoting greater campus diversity.
