Museum Without Walls Series Begins Oct. 5
The Northern California Natural History Museum at California State University, Chico will sponsor its fall Museum Without Walls Lecture Series beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 5, and will continue every Wednesday evening through Nov. 9.
The theme for the series is “Bidwell Park and Beyond: History, Heritage, Happenings.” Each presentation begins promptly at 7:30 PM at the Chico Area Recreation and Parks District Community Center (CARD), 545 Vallombrosa Ave. There is a $2 per person donation requested. No charge for students with an ID.
Oct. 5, CSU, Chico professor Michael Gillis will present “An Agricultural History of Rancho Chico.”
Anthropologist and Mechoopda tribal member Arlene Ward will present “The Mechoopda along Chulamsewi” on Oct. 12.
On Oct.19, invertebrate taxonomist Dan Pickard will present “Aquatic Insects of Big Chico Creek and Bidwell Park.”
CSU, Chico professor Dave Wood will present “Fire Ecology of Bidwell Park and Beyond” on Oct. 26.
CSU, Chico professor Greg White will present “Population Ecology of Ancient Sacramento Valley” on Nov. 2.
The series will conclude on Nov. 9 when University of California research associate James West will present “Climate Changes in Northern California Following the Last Ice Age.”
