Students for Responsible Agriculture Present Ag Day at CSU, Chico
The farm is coming to campus! The Chico State Students for Responsible Agriculture (SRA) will educate and entertain elementary school students by bringing hands-on agriculture to the Free Speech Area. The 13th annual Ag Day is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, from 9 a.m.-noon.
Last year, more than 900 students attended this annual event, which features booths from Chico State Ag clubs and organizations, as well as displays and samples from ag businesses such as Bell-Carter Olives, Butte County Cattlewomen and Pacific Coast Producers.
Children get the opportunity to milk a cow, learn to rope, visit a petting zoo and watch stock dog demonstrations. “Ag Day is a way for kids to learn about agriculture in a fun, hands-on setting,” said Desiree Gonzalez, external relations coordinator for the College of Agriculture. “This event is a positive experience for local schoolchildren and college students alike.”
This is a student-organized event intended to promote agricultural awareness within Chico and the campus community. This event is free and open to the public. For more information on Ag Day, please contact Shannon Allard at shannonallard@hotmail.com or (530) 680-4545.
