2005 Fun Without Alcohol Fair Goes Safari
The 2005 Fun Without Alcohol Fair, a daylong event sponsored by Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center (CADEC), will have a safari motif. A giraffe will illustrate the theme “Stand Tall Against Drugs and Alcohol.” The 16th annual fair is scheduled to take place Thursday, April 28 on the California State University, Chico campus, from 10 am until 3 pm.
More than 57 campus and community organizations will host interactive booths, games and activities for children around a no alcohol, drug or tobacco use theme. These booths will compete to earn prizes for the most creative, most interactive and most educational booths.
Some of the activities this year include a petting zoo, rhino ring toss, face painting, flower planting, sponge painting where children can create a piece of art, and athletic challenges including obstacle courses, basketball and golf. Students will also have a chance to learn more about health and safety via interactive displays, knowledge games and an ambulance tour.
Entertainment will be featured throughout the day, including hip hop and Irish dance performances, a martial arts demonstration, musical acts and a jump rope demonstration, plus appearances by Willie the Wildcat, CSU, Chico’s mascot, and Rascal the Raccoon, the mascot of the Chico Outlaws Baseball Club.
The 2005 Fun Without Alcohol Fair is organized by CADEC with funding from the Associated Students Activity Fee Council. The event is free for school children who attend with their class, a parent or guardian.
Additional information about the Fun Without Alcohol Fair is available by contacting CADEC at (530) 898-6450.
