Presidential Election 2004: George W. Bush vs. John Kerry

The Center for Applied and Professional Ethics (CAPE), at California State University, Chico will sponsor a forum on Oct. 13, in which attendees will convene at 5:30 PM to watch the third and final debate between presidential candidates George W. Bush and John Kerry and then discuss issues surrounding the election.

The forum will be held in PAC 144. The televised debate begins at 6 PM PDT. A panel of experts, both Democrat and Republican, will be on hand to represent the candidates and answer questions from the audience.

Andrew Flescher, moderator of the forum, said, “The presidential election of 2000 was one of the closest in our nation’s history. It perhaps demonstrated, once and for all, the validity of the old adage, every vote counts. If the polling data is accurate, this election promises to be no different.”

The panel will address the question of who Bush and Kerry are and where they stand on the issues. Panel members include Alex Oehler, field representative for Congressman Wally Herger, and members of the Department of Political Science Alan Gibson, Jim Jacob and Charles Turner.

This event is free and open to the public. For information, please contact Andrew Flescher, director of CAPE, at 898-5534. CAPE promotes ethical reflection about issues of concern within and outside the University.
