Professor Receives High Honors from Alma Mater
Victoria Bernhardt, professor of Professional Studies in Education at California State University, Chico has received a Distinguished Achievement Citation (DAC) from her alma mater, Iowa State University.
The DAC is the highest honor given to ISU alumni as part of its Distinguished Awards Celebration, presented by the ISU Alumni Association. The award honors alumni for their widely recognized contributions to their professions. The two other recipients of the award are U.S. Senator Tom Harkin and Pennsylvania State University President Graham Spanier.
Bernhardt is the executive director of the Education for the Future Initiative, a not-for-profit organization that gathers and analyzes data to improve learning. She has acted as the executive director of the organization since 1991.
Bernhardt has authored 10 publications on how teachers can improve the educational process by using real data and facts. Bernhardt’s latest publication, “Using Data to Improve Student Learning in Elementary Schools” is part of a four-book collection.
Bernhardt also conducts workshops and makes presentations on the local, regional, state, national and international levels on her studies and findings.
Bernhardt received her Ph.D. in educational psychology research and management with a minor in mathematics from the University of Oregon. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ISU.
