University Housing Students Recognized for Academic Achievements
California State University, Chico Housing and Food Service hosted a banquet this week in the Bell Memorial Auditorium honoring university housing students for their high academic achievements for the fall 2003 semester.
Twenty students were recognized Feb. 23 for receiving a 4.0 GPA, and 128 students were awarded for receiving a 3.7 GPA or higher. Six resident assistants/house coordinators were presented with gifts for making the dean’s list (3.5 GPA or higher).
Individual wings, houses and buildings from the different campus housing facilities were also recognized for having the highest combined GPA.
Of the 1,756 university housing students, approximately 200 students were awarded for their high academic achievements.
This year’s banquet included a welcome from David Stephen, director of University Student Housing and Food Service, along with a recognition speech by CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg.
The annual banquets began in the 1970s and are designed to recognize academic success for first-year students’ first semester of college. The banquets take place every year in February.
