The Department of Education and the Liberal Studies Program at California State University, Chico will be hosting their 8th annual Celebrate Teaching Conference on Wednesday, March 3, in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The conference, which caters to high school juniors and seniors who are interested in a career in education, is sponsored by the Department of Education’s Integrated Teacher Core Project. Sixteen high schools and 220 students are expected to attend this year.

It will feature interactive classes, including “How to Become a Teacher,” “What Makes a Great Teacher” and “Teachers Mean the World to Their Students.” The classes will be facilitated by CSU, Chico education professors.

Keynote speaker Mary Edwards will begin the conference with a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session. Edwards has been teaching for 14 years and is currently teaching sixth grade at Little Chico Creek Elementary School.

Students will also receive information about career opportunities, financial aid, required courses and campus life. Lunch will be provided along with a free T-shirt for all participants.
