Speaker to Address Consequences of Drinking

Mike Green, former NCAA athlete and coach, will speak on alcohol and drug abuse in a presentation titled “The One-Nighter” on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in the BMU auditorium at California State University, Chico.

Green’s presentation at CSU, Chico coincides with National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week. He will address the dangerous consequences that can occur in just one night of drinking. Green’s message stems from personal experience as a recovering alcoholic.

Green has delivered drug and alcohol awareness and education to more than 2,000 campuses nationwide in the past 18 years. He was chosen to deliver expert testimony before the United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control in 1987.

Green has developed drug and alcohol programs for New Jersey high schools at the request of Senator Bill Bradley. He has established similar programs for medical societies in New Jersey and Virginia, and for professional sports teams including the Philadelphia Flyers.

“The One-Nighter” is sponsored by CSU, Chico’s Campus Alcohol & Drug Education Center (CADEC), Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreational Sports, Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils and Associated Students Presents.
