Conference to Address Practical Treatment Approaches to PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorders
California State University, Chico Continuing Education, in a continuing partnership with the Butte County Superior Court Family Services, announces Trauma and Turmoil – Practical Treatment Approaches: PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and Borderline Personality Disorders Conference, featuring Dr. John Preston, an award-winning author and internationally recognized scholar in the field.
This one-day professional development conference is designed to provide psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, attorneys, counselors, mediators, child custody evaluators, behavioral health professionals, nurses, physicians, and interested community members a continuing education opportunity to refine diagnostic skills, learn effective strategies for treatment, and understand the role of adjunctive treatments.
Trauma and Turmoil – Practical Treatment Approaches Conference will be presented Thursday, Nov. 6, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Chico Family Masonic Center, 1110 W. East Avenue in Chico. The conference will provide six hours of continuing education credit. Registration is $99 and includes lunch and materials. Four or more individuals from the same organization may enroll at a group rate of $79 each. Preston is on the faculty of Alliant International University, home of the California School of Professional Psychology, Sacramento. He is the author of 14 books on borderline disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. His book, “Handbook of Clinical Psychopharmacology for Therapists,” was the year’s number-one bestseller with the Behavioral Sciences Book Club. He is the author of “Drugs in Psychiatry” chapter in the Encyclopedia Americana. Preston is the recipient of the Mental Health Association’s President’s Award for contributions to the mental health community. He has lectured in the United States, Europe and Russia.
Trauma and Turmoil – Practical Treatment Approaches: PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorders Conference is the 13th conference presented in the ongoing In Service to Families, Children and the Courts conference series. Established in 1999, in cooperation with Butte County Family Court Services and Butte County Behavioral Health, In Service to Families, Children and the Courts provides professional continuing education opportunities to community and family service providers. The In Service conference series was recently awarded the University Continuing Education Association Western Region Innovative Non Credit Programming Award for 2003.
