Sorority to Host Locks of Love Event for National Make A Difference Day
Gamma Phi Beta Sorority is hosting Locks of Love, a philanthropic event for National Make A Difference Day, on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cleo’s Hair Salon and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the J.C. Penny’s hair salon, both located in the Chico Mall.
Cleo’s and J.C. Penny’s are volunteering their time to cut donors’ hair, free of charge. Gamma Phi Beta will package the hair and mail it to the Locks of Love foundation, a not-for-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children with medical hair loss.
Gamma Phi Beta is volunteering to staff the event and is looking for hair donors. Locks of Love will evaluate the usefulness of donor’s hair according to these guidelines:
* The donated hair must be at least 10 inches (preferably 12 inches) in length
* The hair must be bundled in a ponytail or braid
* The hair must be free of damage by chemical processing
Gamma Phi Beta encourages the Chico community to consider making a difference on October 25, for children who suffer hair loss.
