2nd Annual Symposium to Honor Outstanding Student Work

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is hosting the 2nd annual Student Research and Scholarly Work Symposium on Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m. to recognize students with outstanding projects or research they conducted for a class in the college at California State University, Chico.

Between 20 and 30 students will present their work in separate sessions based on the general audience of the piece. The presentations, to be held in various classrooms in Butte, Tehama, Plumas and Holt Halls on campus, are free and open to the public.

Faculty members nominate students and mentor them while completing their final projects. The students have to be Behavioral and Social Sciences majors or have taken a class within the college to qualify for nomination.

“This event is non-competitive and very select,” said Professor Carol Edelman, associate dean of the college. “These students are chosen from very high standards. It’s quite an honor.”

Student work is published in “Proceedings,” a journal given to various departments, students and community friends of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. A reception will be held in the Warrens Center following the presentations.

For more information, contact Edelman at 530-898-6171.
