Awards Ceremony Honors Outstanding Students

The 14th Annual University Awards Reception is being held on Wednesday, April 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Albert E. Warrens Reception Center, during the Founders Week celebration. Students are honored for their achievements and contributions in the areas of leadership, scholastic achievement, organization advising, athletic excellence and community service.

Deans from nine California State University, Chico colleges and schools each nominate one student as an Associated Students Outstanding Student Leader. Students are recognized for excellence in their grade point average, personal contributions in class and participation in co-curricular activities. One of the nine will also be chosen as the recipient of the Outstanding Chico State Student Leader award.

Other awards include a student organization adviser award, academic writing award, an enhancement of multicultural understanding award, athletic awards, the Glenn Kendall Public Service award and the President’s Award. Faculty, coaches and peers nominate students. Various sponsors fund all awards in amounts ranging from $250 to $3,500.

The ceremony is sponsored by the vice president for University Advancement and Student Affairs, the Student Activities Office and the Associated Students.
