Scour and Devour Cleanup to be Held Sept. 28

The fifth annual Scour and Devour Campus and Community Cleanup, a day devoted to cleaning up the California State University, Chico campus and various areas in the community, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28. Approximately 400 participants are expected to take part.
Volunteers are still needed for cleaning, painting and graffiti removal in areas around the campus, downtown Chico, north and south campus neighborhoods and adjacent railroad properties.

New to the event this year is the addition of shuttled trolley buses to outlying areas. Buses will be organized to take volunteers to job sites outside the Chico area, including Dayton Road, Upper Bidwell Park and various sites for graffiti removal.

The event begins at 9 a.m. on the lawn in front of CSU, Chico’s Kendall Hall. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the first 300 volunteers to arrive receiving a free Scour and Devour T-shirt. Following the event, a barbecue lunch will be served for all participants.

A number of campus and community organizations are participating in the event, including Associated Students, A.S. Recycling, Campus Crusade for Christ, City of Chico, Neighborhood Church of Chico, North and South Campus Neighborhood Associations, The Edge Campus Christian Fellowship, University Housing and Food Service and Waste Management.
