College of Business Hosts Enterprise Management Technology Workshop

Beginning Monday, Aug. 12, the College of Business at California State University, Chico will host a weeklong curriculum workshop on enterprise management technology. The purpose of the workshop is to disseminate the teaching and research materials that have been developed by Chico business faculty to 50 professors from more than 30 universities nationwide.

The workshop is jointly sponsored by the College of Business and SAP AG, a German company that is the world’s leading producer of enterprise management software. The workshop is designed to help other business technology professors from North America learn from Chico’s pioneering work on enterprise-wide database management.

MIS professors trying to integrate SAP into their curriculums will see how Chico’s business students are exposed to the integration of finance, production, sales management, logistics and business functions in a cross-functional organizational design. In addition, the workshops will present configuration and customizing of programming syllabi.

In 1995, Chico’s College of Business entered into a partnership with SAP AG to engage in research on how to improve management theory and practice utilizing SAP’s R3 technology. SAP AG has provided extensive software and financial support to Chico.

Hewlett-Packard, NEC, Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., Accenture, Chevron and Healthnet are among the companies that have also supported the effort to create a cross-functional curriculum for business students.
