Bill Post Named Vice Provost For Information Resources

Bill Post has been named vice provost for information resources at California State University, Chico. Post was appointed chief technology officer in August 2000 and named interim vice provost for information resources when Fred Ryan retired in spring 2001.

Post’s responsibilities include overseeing Meriam Library as well as the offices of Computing Services, Communications Services, Academic Technologies and User Support Services, which includes Student Computing.

During his 24-year tenure at CSU, Chico, Post has chaired the Target 2000 Technology Committee and its successor, the Beyond 2000 committee, and created the Technology and Learning Program and the Student Computing Program. He was also instrumental in establishing the 24-hour computer lab in Meriam Library.

“I am looking forward to working with the campus community to see that our technology investments are wisely chosen and bring maximum benefit to the campus,” said Post. “Success with information technology is dependent on people working together. This is why I enjoy very much Chico’s culture of cooperation.”

Post has master’s degrees in computer science and library science from San Jose State University. He completed his undergraduate work at Rutgers University.
