CSU, Chico’s Museum of Anthropology Presents 18th Annual American Visions Photography Competition
The Museum of Anthropology at California State University, Chico is now accepting entries for the 18th Annual American Visions Photography Competition.
The theme of this year’s photography show is “Shaping Lives: The Stories Human Hands Tell.” Photographs should reflect the connections between artistic creations and the people who make them. Artists are encouraged to show how the hands and the art work together tell a story, what the chosen art form tells us about the artist and how the artist or the place influences the creative process. Entries are accepted through Friday, Aug. 10, and should include a statement of 60 words or fewer explaining how the photograph relates to the theme.
A panel of judges will select the photographs to be displayed from Sept. 10 to Oct. 11 in the Museum of Anthropology in Langdon Hall and CSU, Chico’s administration building, Kendall Hall. Cash awards will be presented to Best of Show and First Place in each category. Visitor voting will determine the People’s Choice cash award winner. Honorable mentions in each category will also be recognized.
Entry forms can be requested by contacting Melody Yeager, photo exhibit curator, at the Museum of Anthropology, 530-898-5397 or by e-mail, anthromuseum@csuchico.edu. Entry fees are $10 for the first entry, $5 for each additional entry.
