California State University, Chico presents a summer Computers and Technology Camp, a hands-on computer science program for students in grades 4-6 and 7-12.
Established in 1999, the Computers and Technology Camp has provided a unique summer learning environment for hundreds of area students. Taught by experienced university faculty, the camp is designed to introduce students to state-of-the-art computer facilities with hands-on exercises and labs so they can explore, develop and master the skills required for success in today’s world. Students will also see demonstrations of new and exciting technology applications.
The weeklong, day camp will take place on the CSU, Chico campus and run June 10–14, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. The camp fee is $400, which includes lunch each day as well as personalized assistance from camp counselors. Students will be separated into small groups with peers who have similar computer skills to ensure that everyone will benefit. Sign-up is required by June 5. To enroll, call 530-898-6105 or visit http://rce.csuchico.edu/computercamp.
Camp curriculum will focus on areas such as using the Internet and designing Web pages. Beginners will learn to navigate the Internet and create Web pages using the HTML language. More experienced students will work with advanced software applications for designing graphics and animation. Advanced students will learn more sophisticated 3D graphics programs and explore virtual reality applications, music and animation.
The daily schedule begins with instruction in campus computer labs. After lunch, students will tour various campus facilities to observe the use of advanced technologies in real-world settings.
