University Hosts Off-campus Housing Fair
The office of University Housing and Food Services will host the Off-Campus Housing Fair for students on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bell Memorial Union on the California State University, Chico campus.
Approximately 15 property managers and owners will answer student questions and provide rental listings and applications for the fall 2002 school year. Nikki Hertl, coordinator of Conferences for Off-Campus Housing and Food Services, and organizer of the event, said, “The housing fair provides students with easy access to different housing options. All of the information is right here on campus, all in one place.”
Prior to the housing fair, students currently living in residence halls will be invited to information meetings Feb. 17-19. At these meetings, property managers from the Chico area will provide information about renting for the first time. Among many topics discussed, information about what a lease is, how to fill out the paperwork, how to choose a roommate and how to set up utilities will be presented.
“Many students living in the residence halls have never had to deal with these kind of issues before. We want to make this a smooth transition for them and help them in any way we can. We also provide the ‘Off-Campus Housing Guide’ for students, which outlines every step of the moving process,” said Hertl.
