Audiometry Class for School Nurses

California State University, Chico’s School of Nursing is offering a 60-hour course in Sacramento for school nurses needing state certification to conduct audiometry testing. This five-day intensive course from Friday, Feb. 15 through Tuesday, Feb. 19 meets all requirements for the School Audiometrist Certificate issued by the State of California.

Cecily LeFevre, an audiologist in private practice and an adjunct professor in the School of Nursing at CSU, Chico, teaches the course. This is the 21st year she has taught a variation of this course at one of the state universities.

All California school nurses must take a semester-long course to meet the requirements for the School Audiometrist Certificate. This course condenses the content and instruction of a semester over five days that include a holiday weekend.

“The Sacramento location offers school nurses from throughout the state the opportunity to learn audiometry in a fun and relaxed manner, “ said LeFevre.

While the course does not offer academic credit, it does qualify for 60 hours of Board of Registered Nursing continuing education.

Class size is limited and space must be reserved in advance. Contact the CSU, Chico School of Nursing for details at 530-898-5891 or e-mail Cecily LeFevre at clefevre@csuchico.edu.

CSU, Chico’s School of Nursing offers a baccalaureate in nursing and a master’s of science in nursing program. The nursing program was the first baccalaureate program in the state university system to achieve National League for Nursing accreditation. It is also accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
