Jewish Studies Scholar Visits CSU, Chico
Seth Wolitz, a visiting presidential scholar and the first speaker in the Matthew and Isabel Fine Lecture Series, will speak on Sholem Aleichem, the first “Fiddler on the Roof,” on Monday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Harlen Adams Theatre at California State University, Chico.
Wolitz has been the Gale Professor of Jewish Studies and Professor of French and Slavic Studies at the University of Texas at Austin since 1980. He holds a Ph.D. in French and romance languages from Yale University. Wolitz is the author of The Proustian Community, co-author of Songs of Bernart de Ventadorn and editor of The Real Bashevis and His Creation: Isaac Bashevis Singer. He is an internationally known specialist in Yiddish literature and Jewish French literature.
The event is free to the public and a reception will follow the event in the Humanities Center, Trinity Hall 100.
