University Offers “Day on the Green” for Residence Hall Students
Whitney Hall, a residence hall at California State University, Chico, will be sponsoring “Day on the Green” on April 29 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the lawn between Lassen Hall and Shasta Hall.
The day will include a series of bands playing for 45 minutes each. The bands include Little Suicide Bunnies, Buffalo Creek, Magdalena, Indecisive Youth and the Krays. Other highlights include games, food, prizes, henna tattoos, massages, basketball and volleyball tournaments, a bounce house and the sale of “Get Your Green On” T-shirts.
“Day on the Green” was started in 1986 by the Whitney Hall staff to bring the residence hall students together for one last event before the year ends.
“This event is a way to give back to the students,” said Tamara Leher, assistant resident director of Whitney Hall. “It provides them with an end-of-the-year activity where all the residence hall students can get together and connect in a positive, healthy environment. It is an opportunity for students to have fun together and enjoy themselves as a whole one last time before the year ends.”
The event is open to all residence hall students, including those who live at University Village and Shasta, Lassen, Whitney, Mechoopda, Esken and Konkow Halls. Certain booths have a service charge, but the food is free to all students with an RHA sticker and 50 cents per item to those without.
