CSU, Chico Has New Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Planning
Dan Takasugi, formerly program and capital asset manager in the U.S. Coast Guard’s civil engineering program, has been appointed as associate vice president for Facilities Management and Planning at California State University, Chico. He officially started work on April 2, 2001.
His most recent position as a Coast Guard program and capital asset manager included overseeing the planning and implementation of a large $250 million facility maintenance and capital replacement/improvement budget and the program management of over 500 staff and an agency-wide facility infrastructure valued at $7 billion in the U.S. Coast Guard’s civil engineering program.
Takasugi’s educational background includes bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering and computer science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Seattle Pacific University, and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana.
The new associate vice president will oversee the departments of Environmental Management, Health and Safety; Facilities Management and Services; Facilities Planning; and University Police.
Associate Vice President Takasugi has already begun work on system-wide energy load reduction issues. He will be overseeing several important capital projects in the next year or two, including the PE II building, utility infrastructure, telecommunication infrastructure, and the student services building. “These will have massive impacts on pedestrian circulation and use of some facilities,” said Takasugi.
