Mixed Media Exhibit Opens February 28

Artist Steve Miranda Byer will exhibit Junk & Disorderly, a mixed media exhibit, at the California State University, Chico Humanities Center from Feb. 28 to March 23 in Trinity Hall, Room 100.

Miranda Byer, artist of another exhibit in the Humanities Center last year (Works on Paper), handles various media, including sculptural, flat collage, printmaking and shadow boxes that have been shown in over a dozen Chico venues over the past 20 years.

Miranda Byer, a 1980 graduate of CSU, Chico, describes his new exhibit, “…junk and disorderly piles of objects painted and pasted. Collections and gatherings enshrined in jars and boxes. Flags and personages occupying doors and shelves. Caged spaces filled with stuff and memories. Chairs filled with barbed wire. A pharmacy of visual debris. Bugs and crosses await.”

Junk & Disorderly will be on display Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A reception with Miranda Byer will held March 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Trinity 100. For further information, contact Thomasin Saxe, 898-4642.
