ComedySportz Show Comes to Chico

The California State University, Chico chapter of Delta Sigma Pi is pleased to welcome ComedySportz to Chico. The show will take place on Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln Hall at Chico High School. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for general admission. Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to promote the study of business in universities.

ComedySportz involves a group of performers making up scenes and playing games on the spot based on audience suggestions. A “match” features two teams of comedy “actletes” (Actor-Athletes) competing for laughs and points, with a referee keeping things moving and calling fouls, while the audience decides the points. The format is similar to the popular television series “Whose Line is it Anyway?”

Performers such as Clea Lewis, from ABC-TVs “Ellen,” Dan Castellaneta of “The Simpsons,” and Phil LaMarr of “Mad TV” have participated in ComedySportz. The event raises money for Gilda’s Club, the national charity for the Comedy League of America. Gilda’s Club is a resource for cancer victims and their families, named after the late comedienne Gilda Radner.

Tickets for this performance are available at the door the night of the event, at the Delta Sigma Pi booth located in the Free Speech Area on the CSU, Chico campus the week before the event, or by e-mailing funwithdsp@yahoo.com. For more information, please contact Amanda Smith at (530) 898-1557.
