Business Resource Center Sends Students to Conference
The Business Resource Center (BRC) at California State University, Chico sent 19 African-American business students to the National Association of Black Accountants Western Region Conference in Oakland on Sept. 28.
Of the approximately 20 schools that attended the conference, including USC, UCLA and Arizona State, CSU, Chico had the largest representation of students.
Willie Reddic, senior, management information systems, was awarded a $1,000 Robert Half International Scholarship for outstanding GPA, leadership and community involvement.
While at the conference, students attended a variety of workshops to learn more about interviewing and networking skills as well as career opportunities in marketing, personal finance and entrepreneurship.
Next month the BRC’s board of directors will attend a conference at the World Trade Club in San Francisco on International Business opportunities for students.
The College of Business established the Business Resource Center in August 1998. Its mission is to aggressively recruit economically disadvantaged students to the College of Business and to provide innovative educational support programs for all students.
“The BRC helps to break down artificial and imaginary cultural barriers while respecting the individual and their culture,” said Gary McMahon, director of student services for the College of Business.
