California State University, Chico Child Development Lab to be Renovated
On Homecoming Day, October 14, the Child Development Lab (CDL) at California State University, Chico will host an open house and reunion to which all child development grads and CDL children and their families are invited for pizza and ice cream and a tour of the facility. The open house will be 4-6 p.m. on the lawn between Modoc Hall and the creek.
The CDL will also be kicking off a year-long fundraising effort that day. Called “A Window to Their World,” the project is designed to involve campus and alumni groups in raising $100,000 for badly needed renovation of the lab. Groups will be working in teams to reach out to both the local and state-wide community for support.
The Child Development Program has seen over 2,000 children and their families participate in its certified preschool program over a period of nearly five decades. Currently, more than 40 children are enrolled.
The primary focus of the renovation will be the updating of the audio system and installation of a video system to be used for monitoring and observing. Plans also include the renovation of the playroom and play yard area, as well as the expansion of the outdoor area to include a bike path.
