Treating Victims of Violence aims to develop assessment procedures and a case conceptualization model of the impact of violence on children, adolescents and their family members. Participants will learn to implement specific cognitive-behavioral interventions that are sensitive to development differences, and to develop and implement school-based and community-based interventions in the aftermath of violence.

Treating Victims of Violence will be presented by Donald Meichenbaum, Ph.D., a founder of Cognitive Behavior Modification (CBM). Meichenbaum is an emeritus professor at the University of Waterloo, Department of Psychology, Ontario, Canada and director of The Melissa Institute for Prevention and Treatment of Victims of Violence, Miami, Florida. In a survey reported in the American Psychologist, North American clinicians voted Meichenbaum “one of the ten most influential psychotherapists of the century.”

Meichenbaum has lectured internationally and has been involved in numerous projects involving victimized individuals. His presentations always receive the highest evaluations for their practical clinical advice and humor.
