2000 Time Capsule to be Buried

After a long break, the Associated Students and the Alumni Association will once again place a time capsule on the California State University, Chico campus on graduation day, Saturday, May 20 in front of Kendall Hall.

It’s been 31 years since a time capsule was last buried, and this placement ceremony will begin a half-hour after graduation ceremonies end (approximately 11:30 a.m.). The capsule will be buried in the center square, with the concrete poured and the number “2000″ placed in the near future.

Some of the items include a TRACS book, piece of BMU brick, a Greek Week t-shirt, a wildcat card, an autographed CSU, Chico Women’s Rugby Shirt, Y2K Compliant Stickers, two Orion newspapers, an Adventure Outings Calendar, an Old BMU postcard, a year 2000 graduation tassel and more.

Duplicates of the items will be displayed for the day in a glass case and will eventually be permanently displayed.

The time capsule will be opened in 50 years at the Homecoming for Golden Grads.

For more information, please contact Jeff DeFranco, executive vice president of the Associated Students, at 898- 5701.
