Summer Computers and Technology Camp for Grades 7-12
California State University, Chico presents Computers and Technology Camp, a hands-on computer science program for students in grades 7-12 this summer.
The weeklong day camp runs June 12-16, from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., at the O’Connell Technology Center on the CSU, Chico campus.
In its second year, the Computers and Technology Camp combines state-of-the-art computer labs with demonstrations of real-world applications and provides students with the skills necessary to navigate our increasingly technological society.
Participants of all ability levels will benefit from the camp. Students are separated into small groups with peers who have similar abilities. This environment encourages collaboration among group members and individual instruction from experienced faculty. University students serve as camp counselors to provide additional attention and assistance.
The daily schedule begins with instruction in the computer labs. After lunch, students will tour various campus facilities to experience how advanced technologies are applied and used in real-life settings. Demonstrations will include computer animation, video and multi-media production facilities, human-powered vehicle design, digital cameras and scientific exploration in various fields. The camp concludes with a demonstration and open house for parents and guests on Friday afternoon.
Cost for the camp is $350, which includes lunch each day. Sign-up is required by June 7. Scholarships for the Computers and Technology Camp will be available on a limited basis. For scholarship information and to register, contact the Center for Regional and Continuing Education at 530-898-6105 or visit Web site at: rce.csuchico.edu/computercamp.
